Construction to Resume on Route 22 (William Penn Highway) Bridge Project in Smithfield Township.
Huntingdon County Bridge to be replaced as part of Public-Private Partnership.
Hollidaysburg, PA – Construction for the Route 22 (William Penn Highway) bridge, spanning Route 26 (Pennsylvania Avenue) in Smithfield Township, Huntingdon County, is scheduled to resume as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement will allow PennDOT to remove it from Huntingdon County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
Crews previously completed the first phase of construction in October 2017, shutting down work during the winter months. The second phase of construction is expected to begin during the week of April 2 and be completed in late June. During this time traffic will utilize a lane shift through the work zone. Motorist are advised to slow down and obey all traffic control signs.
