Community Relations

The Borough of Huntingdon and the Huntingdon Borough Police Department are active participants in community events, such as the annual National Night Out, Coffee with a Cop, Trick-or-Treat Night, and other larger downtown events.

Learn more about how we support our community below.

Bike Patrol Unit

The Huntingdon Borough Police Department has officers trained for the use of patrol mountain bikes.  The mountain bikes have proven to be effective in quick deployment, and in patrolling areas of the Borough that are not accessible by patrol vehicle.  Officers assigned to bike patrol are more accessible to the public and provide greater community interaction.  If you have any questions about this unit, please contact us (link to cstreightiff@huntingdonboro.com)

Crime Prevention

The Huntingdon Borough Police strive to be proactive and prefer to prevent crime before it occurs, when possible. Crime prevention is a safer, less expensive, and more responsible way to keep our community safe. The police cannot be everywhere, however, and depend on your help. We encourage you to report any suspicious activity when it is happening. Please do not feel that your information is not important, or that it will distract us from a more important task; we process all calls and information.

If you have a question or would like to make a police report, please contact us by email )linked to: cstreightiff@huntingdonboro.com) or call (814) 643-3960. Please note that our email is checked only during regular business hours.

Trick or Treat Night

The Huntingdon Borough Police Department provides extra law enforcement presence during Trick or Treat each year in the Borough of Huntingdon.  Officers stop and visit with our youth and families, providing treats and safety messages.  The increased presence during this event, also creates a safe environment for the increased pedestrian traffic.

Coffee with a Cop

Huntingdon Borough police say having a good relationship with the community is one of the most important things –and having a cup of coffee with the residents is a great way to get the conversation started.

“It just brings the community together…brings us face-to-face, and just enables us talk about what’s going on” – Chief Streightiff

Officers say it’s a great opportunity for the community to meet with them and discuss hot-topic issues.

This event is for everyone, including kids, who want to talk with and learn more about local police.  The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve

Coffee with a Cop gives you opportunities, outside of crisis situations, to relax and chat with residents in the community you serve.  Coffee with a Cop events provide access and opportunity for distraction-free conversations with your local police officers.

Standing Stone Coffee Company has been a strategic partner in the Community Outreach project.

Huntingdon Area Public Safety Golf Tournament

This annual endeavor serves to benefit the police services for Borough of Huntingdon.

Proceeds from this event are allocated to help fund various programs within our community and support area youth.  Some of the programs that benefit include, but are not limited to:

  • car seat safety programs which purchase car seats for those who are financially unable
  • bicycle rodeos to teach bicycle safety skills and provide helmets to local children
  • local drug awareness and community engagement programs such as National Night Out, Coffee with a Cop, and youth sports sponsorship

Funds will also be used for local school scholarships, and various internal police programs such as the continued operation of the K9 unit, Drone program, officer training and equipment purchases that would be financially unattainable by any other means.  These funds have also been utilized to assist victims of crimes with transportation, food, and lodging costs during court proceedings.   All of these programs are vital to providing safety, protection, and commitment to the Huntingdon Borough community.
